The Old Coach House is a modernised, semi-detached, Dorset cottage, built of stone which makes it cool in the summer and cosy in the colder months.
Traditional features such as the living room wood burner sit side by side with modern additions, like oil-fired central heating, the LCD television, wireless broadband connection and the contemporary, well-equipped kitchen and two bathrooms. Up to eight or nine people can be accomodated in the cottage’s four comfortable bedrooms (two with televisions), and both the sun room and back garden are great places to enjoy the weather and the surrounding countryside views. The Old Coach House is situated on a pleasant triangular green, close to Bridge Farm, with good access to the roads out of the Village in all directions, and has private parking for three cars.
The kitchen and adjacent utility room are equipped with a washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, microwave and electric cooker. One of the four bedrooms is located on the ground floor, and one bathroom features a walk-in shower, making life easier for people with mobility difficulties.

Lovely quiet village with a little community play area for kids and walks straight from the door, which kept our Whippet happy.
We loved that we could get to the coast so quickly and surrounding towns were only 10 mins away.
Communication was spot on and we felt very grateful to have such a lovely space to meet with family again after such a long time of being apart.

The Old Coach house itself was very clean; spacious; and homely throughout our stay and was more than adequate for the pooches that came with us too !! The living; dining and kitchen areas and facilities were perfect for the 6 of us for the weekend with an ensemble of kitchen utensils; dishes; cutlery; and accessories for our needs with breakfasts; lunches and dinners. The dining room space and table for the 6 of us was more than enough for various big dinners; drinks as well as board games of an evening,
As shown in the photos; there are 4 bedrooms in total whereby a series of double beds and single beds are present. As the location is quite remote; it was very dark and peaceful in the evenings making it very easy to sleep. All of the bedrooms have adequate storage for clothes; luggage; and shoes as well as having multiple plug sockets for charging phones etc.
The bathrooms were all very clean and more than enough towels were provided for the 6 of us throughout the weekend stay. Hot water was constantly provided with each bathroom and was very refreshing after each day or hike !!
We very much enjoyed our day trip on Saturday walking to Higher and Lower Kingcombe and on the various Wildlife Trust trails (with a cheeky tea; coffee and cake at the Kingcombe Centre café !!) whereby I highly recommend wearing walking boots or even wellies !! Higher Kingcombe is around a 15 minute walk from the Old Coach House, East and Lower Kingcombe is an additional 10 minute walk, East,
The Wildlife Trust trails are all sign posted and there are a variety of different types of walks present whereby we were out and about for 3 - 4 hours in total. The hosts provide a series of leaflets and pamphlets in the dining room of the Old Coach House of things to do and places to visit in the area with Dorchester being a 25 minute drive away East and West Bay Beach and Bridport being a 25 minute drive away South,
The hosts communication and correspondence was very prompt making it an efficient and easy booking process as well as providing Check In and Check Out procedures for the Old Coach House,
If you are looking for a remote; secluded and peaceful getaway which is still amenable to towns (25 minute drive or so); I highly recommend staying at the Old Coach House for a truly great stay !! We enjoyed it so much that we are hoping to return in the near future !! read less
